GymNote (the "App") is developed and operated by ican entertainment Co., Ltd. ("we", "us"). We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we handle data when you use the App and our website. It is written in accordance with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act.
1. Data we process
The App has no account sign-up or login. We never ask for your name, email or phone number, and we do not sync your workout, nutrition or body records to a cloud database of ours.
To provide its features, the App processes on your device: workouts (exercises, weights, reps, times, per-set ratings and training notes), routines, nutrition logs and your personal food library, body data (weight, body fat and InBody values), and your goal, age, sex, height, experience, available equipment, nutrition targets and app preferences.
On first launch the App generates a random installation ID on your device, used to link your subscription, AI usage allowance and crash reports. It contains no name or contact details, and reinstalling the App creates a new one.
This data is used to provide logging, routines, coaching suggestions, progress analysis and related settings, and is never used for advertising or personalized ads. Our purposes of collection are performing our agreement with you, customer management and service, information services and database management, e-commerce, and statistics and research to improve the App.
2. Local storage
Your workout, nutrition and body records are stored locally on your device and are removed when you delete the App. Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover data lost through deletion, uninstalling, or a lost or broken device. You can export a .gymnote backup from Settings → Backup, or export CSV.
On Android, system backup and device-to-device transfer include only your installation ID and subscription-related settings, so you can restore purchases on a new device. Your workout, nutrition and body records are not included.
3. AI features
AI features are optional and run only when you use them: AI meal recognition (text or photo), InBody report parsing and deep reports, coach explanations, Ask GymNote chat, weekly and monthly reviews, and AI routine generation.
When you do, the App sends only what that analysis needs to our server (hosted on Google Cloud), which passes it to Anthropic, PBC's Claude model to generate the result. This may include the meal description you type, the food or InBody photo you take, aggregated training, nutrition and body features (such as sets in the last 7 days, average protein intake and weight trend), your age, sex, height, weight, experience and goal, and your Ask GymNote question with the last few turns of conversation. Training notes are sent only if you explicitly choose to include them and agree.
Photos and analysis features are not stored on our server. AI responses are cached for 24 hours so a network retry is not counted twice; Ask GymNote keeps the last 6 turns of a conversation for up to 7 days. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models.
You may choose not to use AI features. If you don't, none of this is sent, and logging, routines, the rest timer and basic coaching keep working. AI results are generated automatically, may be incomplete or wrong, and are for reference only; they are not medical, nutritional or other professional advice.
4. Health platforms
With your permission in Settings, the App can connect to Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iOS: it reads weight and body fat to pre-fill body measurements and writes your completed workouts. The exact items are listed on the system permission screen.
This data is exchanged between the App and the health platform on your device only and is not sent to our servers, except that aggregated values such as your weight trend may be included when you use an AI feature, as described in section 3.
We use health data only to provide the App's features and never use it for advertising, sell it or share it with data brokers. The App's use and transfer of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Apple Health is not used for advertising or similar purposes and is not shared with third parties for those purposes.
You can revoke access at any time in the App or in system settings; related sync features will then stop working.
5. Camera and photos
The App accesses the camera or a photo only when you tap to take or choose one. Before upload it removes EXIF data, including GPS location and device information. If an InBody sheet shows your name or member number, the model is instructed to ignore it and results never include it; we still recommend keeping those fields out of frame.
6. Analytics and crash diagnostics
To improve the App's quality and features, we use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
Firebase Analytics may process app interactions and usage, such as screen views, onboarding steps, starting and finishing workouts, logging methods, AI feature use, plans-page actions, settings changes, and categorical choices such as the goal and experience selected during onboarding. Firebase Crashlytics may process crashes, non-fatal errors, app and device diagnostics and your installation ID to help us find and fix problems.
We do not send your weights, reps, calories, body measurements, training notes or any text you type through these services. Advertising IDs are disabled in the App.
7. Third-party services and data transfers
The App uses the following services:
- Anthropic (Claude): processes the AI features you choose to use.
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC): usage analysis, quality improvement, and crash and error diagnostics.
- RevenueCat and Google Play / Apple App Store: subscriptions, InBody deep report purchases, purchase restoration and entitlement management. Payments are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store and we never store your card details; transaction, product and entitlement data are handled by these services under their own policies.
- Our server (Google Cloud): forwards AI requests, checks entitlements, and counts AI usage and prevents abuse using a hash of a device identifier (the Android ID on Android; an identifier the App stores in the Keychain on iOS). The raw identifier is never stored, and the hash is not linked to anything that identifies you or used for advertising or tracking.
- RepDB and our website: exercise illustrations, update checks and these policy pages. These requests carry only standard network information such as IP address.
These providers may process data outside Taiwan, including in the United States. Other than as described above, we do not send your workout, nutrition or body records to servers we operate, and we never sell or rent your personal data.
8. Retention and deletion
Local data is kept until you delete or change it, or remove the App.
Photos and features sent for AI analysis are not stored; AI responses are cached for 24 hours; Ask GymNote conversations are kept for up to 7 days; usage allowance and device hashes are kept as long as needed to provide the service and prevent abuse; purchase records are kept while the subscription is active and for legally required periods; Crashlytics crash data is kept for 90 days; and Analytics data for up to 14 months.
Firebase, RevenueCat, Anthropic, Apple and Google handle the data they process under their own privacy policies and retention rules. Because the App has no user accounts, there is no account deletion process.
9. Your rights
Under Article 3 of Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act, you may request to review your personal data or obtain a copy, supplement or correct it, stop its collection, processing or use, or have it deleted. Data on your device can be viewed, edited, deleted and exported directly in the App.
For data processed by us or our service providers, contact us through the developer contact listed on the App's Google Play or App Store page, or in writing to the address in section 13. As there are no accounts, please include something that helps us identify the records, such as the order number on your store receipt. We will respond within the statutory periods. Users in the EU, the UK and other regions also have the rights granted by their local laws.
10. Children's privacy
The App is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Minors who wish to use AI or paid features should have a parent or legal guardian help decide and consent under applicable law and platform rules.
11. Data security
All connections use HTTPS encryption, AI service keys are kept only on our server, device identifiers are stored only as hashes, and the fields each AI request may send are limited to an allowlist of what is necessary. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please protect your device and backup files.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy because of feature changes or legal requirements. New versions are published on the App's policy page and our website; for material changes we will also post a notice in the App and on our website.
13. Contact
Welcome to GymNote. These terms are an agreement between you and ican entertainment Co., Ltd. ("we", "us") about your use of the GymNote app and website (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. The Service
The Service provides logging of workouts, nutrition and body data, rule-based coaching suggestions computed on your device, optional AI features (internet required; part of a GymNote Plus subscription or a one-time purchase) and optional sync with your phone's health platform. We may add, change or remove features to improve the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must read and agree to these terms, and their consent is required before purchasing a paid plan.
3. Your data and backups
The Service needs no account. Your records are stored primarily on your device and are in your custody. We hold no copy of your training data and cannot restore data lost through deletion, uninstalling, or a lost or broken device, so please back up regularly from Settings → Backup. See the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.
4. Health and safety
The App is not a medical device and does not provide medical, nutritional or rehabilitation diagnosis or treatment. Coaching suggestions, weight and set recommendations, calorie and macronutrient estimates and InBody interpretations are calculated or estimated from the records you provide. They do not account for your medical history, medication or individual health conditions, and may be inaccurate.
Consult a doctor or qualified professional before starting a new training or nutrition plan, especially if you are pregnant, have a chronic condition, are recovering from injury or have other health concerns. Stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, chest tightness or any discomfort while training, and seek medical help if needed. You decide whether to follow any suggestion and are responsible for your own training and nutrition decisions.
5. AI features
AI results are generated automatically by a third-party large language model and may contain errors, omissions or inappropriate content. They are for reference only and are not professional advice. Only upload content you have the right to use; do not upload other people's personal data, unlawful content or images unrelated to training or nutrition.
To maintain quality and prevent abuse, AI features have fair-use limits and may be temporarily unavailable once a limit is reached. AI features require an internet connection and may also be unavailable during maintenance or because of network or third-party service conditions.
6. Subscriptions and purchases
GymNote Plus is offered as monthly and yearly plans at the prices shown in the App and store at the time of purchase. Eligible users get a 7-day free trial on their first subscription; unless cancelled before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription and billing begins.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period and are charged to your store account unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancel from the subscription settings in Google Play or the App Store; removing the App does not cancel a subscription. After cancelling, you keep Plus until the end of the current period.
The InBody deep report is a one-time digital purchase; each purchase generates one report.
Payments, receipts and refunds are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their policies; we cannot issue refunds directly. Under Taiwan's regulations on reasonable exceptions to the right of withdrawal in distance sales, the 7-day unconditional withdrawal right does not apply to non-physical digital content or online services provided, with your prior consent, upon purchase; store refund policies still apply where offered. On a new device, use "Restore purchases" in the App to recover your entitlements. If we change subscription prices, we will give advance notice as required by the store.
7. Acceptable use
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, modify or crack the App; circumvent payment, usage limits or security measures; call AI features in bulk by automated means; resell or rent out the Service; or use it for anything unlawful, infringing or disruptive to others. If you do, we may suspend or terminate your access to the affected features.
8. Intellectual property
The Service's software, interface design, brand, logo and written content belong to us or our licensors. Exercise names, taxonomy and illustrations are provided by RepDB (repdb.co) under its license; open-source components are used under their respective licenses, listed in the App under Settings → Open-source licenses.
You keep the rights to the records you enter and the content you upload. To provide AI features, you allow us and our service providers to process that content to the extent needed for each request.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties including Google Play, the App Store, Health Connect, Apple Health, Firebase, RevenueCat and Anthropic. When you use them you are also subject to their terms; their availability and content are outside our control.
10. Changes to and ending the Service
We may suspend or interrupt parts of the Service for maintenance, updates or events beyond our control, and will notify you in the App in advance of material changes to paid features. If we discontinue AI or other paid features, any paid but unused period will be handled under the store's rules. You may stop using the Service and remove the App at any time.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for your particular needs, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you actually paid for the Service in the 12 months before the damage occurred.
These limits do not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence and do not affect your rights under mandatory law, including Taiwan's Consumer Protection Act.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. New versions are published on the App's terms page and our website, and material changes will be announced in the App and on our website. If you keep using the Service after a revision takes effect, you accept the revised terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Disputes arising from these terms or the Service will be heard in the first instance by the Taiwan Taipei District Court, without prejudice to statutory rules on jurisdiction for consumer actions. If any part of these terms is held invalid, the rest remains in effect.
